Zhaveri Pharmakem

Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing

Zhaveri Pharmakem is part of Crescent Pharmaceutical Group’s global pharmaceutical development and manufacturing network, providing in-house scientific, technical and manufacturing capability to support the expansion of the Group’s medicines portfolio.

The operation strengthens Crescent’s ability to progress pharmaceutical products from development through technology transfer and into commercial manufacture, working alongside the Group’s UK operations, global development teams and strategic manufacturing partners.

Zhaveri brings together pharmaceutical development and manufacturing expertise within a single Group operation. Its role extends beyond commercial production. Development, analytical and technical teams support the work required to establish robust manufacturing processes and prepare products for transfer into routine manufacture.

Core activities include:

  • Pharmaceutical formulation and product development
  • Analytical method development and validation
  • Process development and optimisation
  • Technology transfer and scale-up
  • Stability studies
    Validation activities
    Commercial pharmaceutical manufacturing
Technical and regulatory support for product registrations

This combination provides Crescent with greater control over the transition between pharmaceutical development and commercial supply.

Part of Crescent's In-House Development Network

Zhaveri works alongside Crescent's wider pharmaceutical development capabilities to support the continued expansion of the Group's product portfolio. Development programmes are coordinated with relevant regulatory, quality, technical and commercial teams across Crescent Pharmaceutical Group, helping ensure that development decisions take account of regulatory requirements, manufacturability and the requirements of future commercial supply. This forms part of Crescent's wider development strategy, which combines global in-house expertise with carefully selected contract development partners where additional technologies, capacity or specialist capabilities are required.

From Technology Transfer to Commercial Manufacture

Technology transfer is an important part of Zhaveri's role within the Group. Processes developed internally or through approved development partners can be transferred, scaled and prepared for commercial manufacture through coordinated technical, analytical and manufacturing activity. Bringing these disciplines closer together supports effective process transfer, manufacturing readiness and long-term product lifecycle management.

Quality and Regulatory Alignment

Development and manufacturing activities operate within the pharmaceutical quality and regulatory requirements applicable to the products and markets being supported. Zhaveri works with Crescent's wider Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs functions throughout development, technology transfer and commercialisation, helping ensure that quality and regulatory considerations remain embedded as products progress towards manufacture and supply.

Global Manufacturing Capability

Zhaveri also contributes pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity to Crescent's international supply network. The operation complements Crescent's UK manufacturing facilities and other global manufacturing resources, allowing manufacturing strategies to be developed according to individual product requirements, technical capability, capacity and long-term supply considerations.Crescent's broader manufacturing model combines:UK manufacturingGlobal in-house manufacturingIn-house pharmaceutical developmentQualified contract manufacturing and development partnersTogether, these complementary resources provide Crescent with greater flexibility when developing manufacturing and supply strategies across a growing medicines portfolio.

Strengthening Crescent's Long-Term Capability

Crescent Pharmaceutical Group acquired Zhaveri Pharmakem in 2024 as part of its continued investment in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing capability. The operation provides additional scientific expertise, manufacturing capacity and technology-transfer capability within the Group, supporting Crescent's long-term strategy of expanding its pharmaceutical portfolio while increasing control over the development and manufacture of its medicines.Together with Crescent's UK operations, global in-house capabilities and strategic pharmaceutical partners, Zhaveri contributes to a diversified operating model designed to support quality, flexibility and resilient medicine supply.
