Crescent Pharma’s Role Within the Group
Crescent Pharma Limited is the Group’s established UK generic medicines business. It manages the commercial supply of a broad pharmaceutical portfolio across wholesale, community pharmacy, hospital and other appropriately authorised healthcare channels.
The business provides the operational connection between pharmaceutical development and manufacturing on one side and regulated commercial supply on the other. Its teams coordinate portfolio management, Regulatory Affairs, quality oversight, procurement, demand planning, inventory, customer service, warehousing and distribution.
Crescent Pharma operates under MHRA authorisations supporting the importation, batch certification and wholesale distribution of medicines in the UK.
Its Manufacturer’s Authorisation covers the batch certification, while its Wholesale Distribution Authorisation supports pharmaceutical distribution through authorised UK locations. These activities are governed through established pharmaceutical quality systems and responsible oversight.
Scale Across the UK Medicines Market
Crescent Pharma has grown from an independent UK pharmaceutical business into a substantial supplier of generic medicines, with a portfolio and distribution reach spanning community pharmacy, pharmaceutical wholesale, NHS hospitals and other healthcare channels. Our scale is built around breadth of portfolio, extensive market reach and the infrastructure required to maintain medicine availability across multiple customer channels.
A Portfolio Built for Breadth
Scale at Crescent Pharma is not based on a small number of individual medicines. The business has developed a broad portfolio across solid dose, liquid and other pharmaceutical forms, supported by continued investment in product development, licensing and acquisition.
With Over 850 Marketing Authorisations granted and a substantial pipeline of over 500 products in development, Crescent continues to expand the range of medicines it can make available to healthcare providers. This portfolio breadth is supported by the wider Crescent Pharmaceutical Group, combining UK manufacturing, global in-house development and manufacturing, and qualified contract development and manufacturing partners.
Each product follows an appropriate technical, regulatory and supply pathway. This allows Crescent to use the capabilities best suited to the medicine while maintaining oversight of product quality, regulatory status, market requirements and ongoing availability. Continued investment in development, licensing and product introduction supports the expansion and renewal of the portfolio. Detailed product listings and available supporting information are provided through the dedicated Products section.
Supply Resilience in Day-to-Day Operations
Reliable medicine supply depends on coordinated planning as much as manufacturing capacity. Crescent Pharma brings together demand forecasting, procurement, manufacturing schedules, quality release planning, stockholding and distribution. This allows supply requirements and potential constraints to be assessed across the full product lifecycle rather than as isolated activities. The wider Group supply model combines UK manufacturing, global in-house manufacturing and carefully managed contract manufacturing partners. Where appropriate, alternative or multiple supply routes are developed to reduce unnecessary dependence on a single manufacturing location or source.
Strategic UK stockholding and Crescent’s authorised warehousing network provide an additional layer of resilience. The National Distribution Centre in Sheffield strengthens this infrastructure through temperature-controlled pharmaceutical storage, inventory management and national order fulfilment.
Serving the UK Healthcare Market
Crescent Pharma works across several complementary healthcare channels, supported by a broad portfolio and established pharmaceutical supply infrastructure.
Portfolio and Product Lifecycle Management
Crescent Pharma assesses product opportunities, coordinates new product introductions and manages the commercial requirements of medicines throughout their lifecycle. This includes aligning portfolio priorities with healthcare demand, development programmes, regulatory pathways, manufacturing capacity and longer-term supply requirements.
Supply Planning and Inventory
Crescent Pharma coordinates demand forecasts, procurement activity, approved supply routes, manufacturing schedules, product availability and UK stockholding. Bringing these activities together provides greater visibility across the supply chain and supports earlier identification of risks that could affect continuity of supply.
Commercial Supply and Customer Service
Commercial and customer service teams manage relationships with appropriately licensed customers across pharmaceutical wholesale, pharmacy, NHS hospital and international channels. The focus is not simply on supplying individual products, but on supporting dependable access to a broad and developing portfolio through established pharmaceutical distribution arrangements.
Regulatory and Quality Coordination
Regulatory Affairs and Quality functions support product registrations, regulatory submissions, licence maintenance, approved product information and ongoing compliance. These activities are supported by established Pharmacovigilance and Medical Information arrangements, helping Crescent respond appropriately to safety information, medical enquiries and changes affecting its medicines.
